{ Local Love } Transport your out of towners Portland-style in a Tesla electric town car!

Transportation is always an issue when you have a wedding with any out-of-towners. Pick a popular Portland-area destination like Hood River, and things get even more complicated. Who picks people up at the airport? How do we get them to the hotel? I just stumbled across Tesla Trips, based out of Hood River, and it looks like we have another great option that is eco-friendly and super stylish!

Tesla Trips offers PDX Airport-to-Hood-River Shuttle, as well as special event and wedding town car tranpsortation. If you have guests who want to pop out for a little winery trip or Gorge Tour during the wedding weekend, they can handle that too.

Not in Hood River? Prestige Limousine, our neighbors right over on NE Broadway, also have a Tesla Model S Electric Luxury Sedan available to get you to the wedding in style.

Either way, whether your wedding is in Portland or Hood River, you have a fun, stylish, eco-friendly and luxurious option for wedding or guest transport.

Major changes to Portland’s commercial compost program – caterers to be affected

Image: Charlie Kloppenburg for Sustainable Business Oregon

In the news: coming March 2015, commercial compost programs in Portland will no longer accept disposable dishware labeled as “compostable”, such as “corn plastic” and the like. From Sustainable Business Oregon:

“Food-selling organizations like the Portland Trail Blazers have their work cut for them following a major change to Portland’s commercial compost program that drops the ability to compost containers and other non-food items.”

So-labeled “compostable” plastic dishware is also not permitted in Portland’s residential program, so in our area, it simply doesn’t make sense to purchase or use those types of foodware for any reason, even an event or wedding. It’s just going to go in the landfill.

It is a bit of a disappointment to see this feature dropped from Portland’s commercial compost program. Many special event caterers, food trucks at parties, and wedding caterers will be affected as well. However, with all challenges come an opportunity — all of us will be challenged and encouraged to decrease waste and move away from any kind of disposables, compostable or not.

{ Real Weddings } Jeanne and Korash at Zenith Vineyards

For today's EJP Events real wedding, we look back at Jeanne and Korash's celebration at Zenith Vineyards in Salem, Oregon. The couple found us by searching the web, all the way from NYC, although Korash's family is based in Salem; so a family-friendly celebration in the heart of Willamette Valley wine country fit the bill.

We loved helping Jeanne and Korash find their wedding location, their wedding photographer David Barss, choose flowers and menu options with Vibrant Table and Vibrant Flowers, and helped them select music from the Ramsey Embick Trio through Northwest Artist Management. Bright oranges met with the warm ivory tones of the venue and were used throughout the wedding, especially in the whimsical guest book table decorations that we helped assemble.

Many thanks to David Barss Photographer for sharing these lovely photos.

Don’t forget about beautiful indoor weddings in Portland

The recent sunny May weather reminds us we are moving closer and closer to summer wedding season. But of course, we had a huge rain shower last night as well. Outdoor weddings and ceremonies are always big in Portland and throughout Oregon. But for various reasons, not everyone wants an outdoor wedding. Maybe they don’t want the stress of thinking about a weather back up. Perhaps they’re looking for a more formal design. Perhaps they want dancing and a huge band until midnight, which would get you in trouble with the neighbors (and the law) at an outdoor wedding. So this week’s post is dedicated to a short roundup of some gorgeous indoor wedding locations in Portland, so you can get married in style all year long.

All weddings coordinated by EJP Events. If you have any questions about these locations, or any of the other hundreds of wedding venues we’ve worked, please shoot us an email!

Many thanks to Craig Mitchelldyer, Robert McNary, Holland Studios, Fritz Photography, and Jessica Shepard for providing the photos.
