OK, apologies for the slight delay on Roundup this week, due to Portland #snowpocalypse 2008! We do have the goodies for you this afternoon though!
We're still a little bit obsessed with the weather lately. What to do in case of weather-related cancellations or delays? For the majority of Portland weddings that occur between March and October, really bad weather is not usually a concern. Of course, all outdoor weddings should have a bad-weather plan (including one for too-hot weather), but we're not usually thinking of roads closed and flights cancelled. Today of course, in the midst of #snowpocalypse and #snowmageddon, and with the uptick in winter weddings we've been seeing, I want to remind you all about wedding postponement insurance – a way to pretty much ensure that you can recoup any lost deposits and re-schedule your wedding date for another time. Oh, did we get your attention?
We just fell in love with this very stylish wedding blog. In their own words:
"Pink Galoshes – Irreverent Hip Tips for the Slightly Naughty Bride.
Pink Galoshes – for all the brides who respond to turmoil or stress by turning it around.
Irreverent – because we make decisions based not on what we are told, but what we think.
Hip – just cuz weddings should be cool.
Slightly Naughty – because for a least a few moments of your day you should be getting away with something you shouldn’t."
We love this attitude!
We were recently invited over to see The Gilt Club, a restaurant on NW Broadway right between the Pearl and Chinatown. Owner Jamie Dunn was so kind to treat us to a "Glitter Pants" (vanilla vodka, cranberry, pineapple, and lemon with a rock candy swizzle stick!) and a dish of manchego fritters while he showed us around the cozy, glamourous spot. It would be just perfect for a small wedding or a rehearsal dinner, and so convenient to the center of town!
We're always on the lookout for new, chic event spaces, so when Jamie from The Gilt Club told us to check out the Museum of Contemporary Craft's rooftop space, just off the North Park Blocks, we had to take a peek. It looks great! If you're looking for a hot new event space, you must check it out.
ABCD Designs
Sometimes, everything seems to be going so minimal. Which is fine, reduce/reuse and all that, but sometimes we want… a little bit more. Amy Beth Cupp Dragoo, the brains behind ABCD Designs' blog and Bespoke Stationery Wardrobe, posts daily "maximalist" gorgeousness on her blog, both for home living and wedding style. She's on our secret wish list for when we finally do our website redesign!
Steampunk Style on Etsy
For our final feature for this Saturday's roundup, we're going to swing to the other end of the style pendulum. Yes, it was posted in the October 2007 edition of Etsy's Handmade Blog, but we're just now hearing the name "steampunk" although we've been seeing the style for some time now. Etsy has a great explication of the name and the aesthetic behind it here. It's a little bit Victorian, a little bit sci-fi, a little bit goth, but 100% creative and intriguing! I know that some of you will be using this for your weddings!
We'll be taking a little time off for the holidays, so to all of you out in winter/wedding/blog-a-wonderland, please stay safe and warm! All of us at EJP Events and Portland Wedding Coordinator wish you an amazing holiday season.
Thanks so much for the link! We’re delighted you like our blog!!
