Art of Weddings Recap and Roundup

The past week was plenty busy with our participation in the first wedding show of the year – The Art of Weddings.  We had so much fun and saw all kinds of cool things that we just have to tell you about. So today’s Saturday Roundup will have a lot of content, hang in there!

First off, we were so lucky to be placed near Annette from Swanky Tables Event Design.  Her business centers around getting all the little details on the table just right, from linens to place cards, and she even has a candy buffet setup service!  Her table was all decked out in pink and silver, and it was hard to resist the pink rock candy swizzle sticks! We can’t wait to do an event with Annette.

Next up is Karren’s Specialty Cakes.
They were handing out full-size samples of their chocolate orange and
pear cake and both were fabulous.  I am really picky about
cake so take my word, it’s great! I heard tell that Karren only does
one cake a weekend, so if you’re interested, get on it! Pictured below
is the Porceline cake from her website:

We then were so happy to see the amazing team from Duchess Clothier
again. Seyta and friends had the ingenious idea of asking their past
menswear clients to be their models for the fashion show. I think their
component of the runway show got the best reaction!

Here’s a photo of some of the Duchess Clothier models/clients that we snapped:

OK, the guy on the right doesn’t look too enthused, but isn’t his suit completely over the top? Perfect for that hipster groomsman who refuses to don rentalwear.

On to photography: We didn’t have a ton of time to talk with the photographers in the show: Amy McMullen, Kate Kelly, and Reversed Lens, but we did blaze through the booths and liked what we saw! Definitely excellent picks on Art of Weddings’ part. Definitely check out Will and Emma’s stuff at Reversed Lens, they are a really sweet couple and I love their work! Photo below by Reversed Lens.

Also in the show were longtime buddies John and Theresa from Valls Photographic. Their booth was the same green as my tablecloth…great minds thinking alike.  Here’s a photo from a wedding they shot for me last summer in Bend:

Flowers of course are very important to any wedding, and we were really impressed by what we saw at Form and Flora.  Their work is very geometric and modern, and would go great with anyone who wants the clean and simple look.  Extremely chic.  Here’s an example!

We also love Studio del Fiore‘s flower work and seriously coveted this feather bouquet they featured at the event:

Finally, we had to save best for last: sweets!  We saw two sweets companies at the event, Pure Sweet and Missionary Chocolate. Pure Sweet creates custom edible wedding favors, offering consultations on flavor, design, and packaging to mesh with your overall wedding look. Very cool!  And Missionary Chocolate just blew us away with their vegan (I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything) gourmet truffles.  The Meyer Lemon was my favorite. I didn’t even know lemon and chocolate went together. Photo below from Missionary Chocolates.

So that was a quick wrap of our Art of Weddings experience, if you saw us there, give us a holler! If we missed out on your booth, so sorry, it was a busy night! Definitely check out the official website for the full rundown, or more over at Simply Chic Weddings. We still need to draw the winner for our EJP Events kick-off consult giveaway. To be posted here soon!  Also, if you comment here with #artofweddings in your comment, we’ll send you a coupon for 50% off your own Kick Off Consult, a $175 value. We’ll leave with a last few shots of our own tangerine-and-green tablescape for the show, plus Sue and Andrea working the EJP booth. Have a great weekend!

  1. Love the alternate weddingwear for grooms. My goal is to wear just the tux and cummerbund at my wedding — no shirt. I haven’t convinced my bride to approve yet 🙂
